The posted speed was 35 mph; the sedan was exceeding the speed limit by about 15 mph. Tire marks indicated the sedan driver began steering about 1 second before impact and began braking about ¼ second before impact. The pickup entered the sedan's lane about 1 to 1 ¼ seconds before impact. Thus, the sedan driver perceived and began responding before the pickup entered the oncoming lane, suggesting the sedan driver was attentive. Attaching a virtual camera to each vehicle during the simulation revealed each vehicle was clearly visible to the other driver at this time. The oncoming sedan was clearly visible to the driver of the pickup well before commencing its left turn.
